Dear Friends,
Thank you for taking the time to read about our family. We know you are facing a difficult decision for yourself and your child, and we are grateful to you for considering the selfless gift of adoption. We hope you will gain peace, comfort, and a sense of security in what you decide. We would like to introduce ourselves so that you can learn more about us.
Our love story began at a piano in the home of a mutual friend. While Kim was playing songs from a musical, Jacob came over to sing along. We discovered that music is one of the many passions we both share, and it has been an important part of our relationship ever since. After dating for several months, we were married in December 2002. Our years of marriage have been spent learning, traveling, having fun, and growing closer together. We were blessed with our sweet daughter, Katie, through the miracle of adoption in February 2011. She has brought such a light and joy into our lives. Embracing parenthood has been a wonderful experience, and we are eager to bring another child into our home to share with us in our adventures.
Kim's thoughts about Jacob:
I feel very lucky to be married to Jacob! Although I was first attracted to his cute smile, I grew to love him for much more than that. He inspires me to be a better person when I see how hard he works to achieve his goals. During his years in college and in dental school, he continually aspired to be the best student he could be. He loves to learn and share the knowledge he gains with those around him. His dedication has carried over into his work as a dentist where he seeks to always give the best possible treatment to his patients. Something else I admire about Jacob is his fun-loving nature and willingness to try new things. He has a great sense of humor and enjoys making people laugh with his silly jokes. But the thing I love most about Jacob is watching him be a father to Katie. Whether it's teaching her how to throw a ball or snuggling with her on the couch, he truly enjoys spending time with her. I love Jacob so much, and I am very thankful to be married to such an amazing man who provides for and protects his family.
Jacob's thoughts about Kim:
Kim has been the perfect example of selfless service in our family. I love her very much, and I am so happy when we are together. She is always eager to lend support with a helping hand or listening ear. Her emotional strength and courage have lifted us through difficult times. Kim has a very caring attitude and is kind to all with whom she associates. I feel that she goes out of her way to help everyone feel welcomed and included. She has developed wonderful skills as a pianist and also enjoys singing and playing other musical instruments. Her music fills our home with a spirit of peace and happiness. She enjoys nurturing Katie and helping her to learn and develop. I am amazed at the natural ability she has to be a wonderful mother. Kim has cultivated many homemaking skills. She enjoys cooking and making crafts that give our home a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our home is always kept clean and organized, which contributes to the peaceful feeling found there. Through her decision to be a stay-at-home mother, she is blessing Katie's life, and will bless the lives of other children that join our family.
Our thoughts about Katie:
Katie is our dream come true! After struggling through years of infertility and heartache, we came to the decision that our children would come to us through adoption. We felt a great peace as we pursued that path. Our beautiful daughter was born on February 16, 2011, and we brought her home two days later. We loved her from the start as if she had been born to us and knew she belonged to our family. We will forever be grateful to her amazing birth mother for the sacrifice she made and the love she showed by placing Katie with us. We have an open relationship with Katie's birth mom and keep in touch with pictures, emails, and texts. This was a decision we all reached together, and we are respectful of each other's needs in regards to contact.
Katie is sweet, curious, and a little bit mischievous. She definitely keeps us busy, but we love it! She is a quick learner and repeats words we say and mimics things she sees us do. When playing with other children, she likes to share her toys with them and give them hugs. Katie loves to bring us books to read to her. We especially love to receive hugs and kisses from her. She is a happy little girl who brings joy to those around her. We have been blessed tremendously by having her in our home.
About our family:
Our favorite thing to do is to spend time together as a family, whether it's going for a walk, sightseeing, trying new restaurants, or watching a movie at home. We also love to have friends over for dinner or a game night, and enjoy hosting parties at our home. We both come from close-knit families where our siblings are some of our best friends. Jacob's sister and her family live in our neighborhood and we see them often. Our other family members live farther away, but we keep in touch with them regularly and look forward to opportunities to visit them. We hope to teach our children similar principles and values that we were taught. We want them to learn to be honest, to work hard, to be valuable members of the community, and to honor and respect others. We also hope they will develop great faith in and a love of Jesus Christ. We desire to teach them through example, friendship, and encouragement.
Thank you for reading about our family. We look forward to exploring a future relationship with you. May the Lord bless and guide you in your decision.
With love,
Jacob and Kim
